Jacky Godoffy, Chief route setter for UIAA, has informed me that there will be a route setter’s seminar January 27-28 in Frankfort Germany. They will be hashing out a plan for the upcoming season in regards to:

• The chief route setters nominations
• The recommendations for route setters
• The evaluation of route setters at the international route setter course

I’m not sure what all that means, but I’ll be looking forward to hearing more from Jacky after the seminar.

He also informed me that there will be an international route setter course March 19-23 at the Magnet in Bern Switzerland. This five-day course will cover the practical and theoretical training necessary to be proposed internationally as route setter and chief route setter.
