Honestly, the only thing I care about going bad is the beer in my fridge. Even classic problems feel like ass after 6 weeks. My turnover is not always exact, I dont know when I will be taking something down until the previous week. My setters take a lot of time to do their own thing, and sometimes routes sit a little longer than others. I would rather have my crew setting with fresh minds and creating something good/great, rather than slapping up plasitc that is just like the last rotation.
I say let your creativity be the key to freshness, not the rotation. If you always set to your stregnth, you will be hard pressed to set anything new.

This is a good suggestion, but I think from a managment standpoint...unless you have a good posse of setters regularly changing routes...It could work against you. If you are missing the stripping dates it will look even worse to the members. I wish I had a regular crew that we could rely on to change specific routes on certain dates, but for many smaller gyms (in areas without a large pool of setters) this just isn't the case.

Also, for effeciency often when we set in our gym we strip an entire section of wall at a time and re-set in that same area. So if you had random "send-by" dates on the routes you wouldn't be able to do that type of mass setting as effectively.

One other thought is that some "Mega Classic" routes end up staying up longer because people love them. So when you set it and tag it, how will you know if it is a mega classic and if it should stay up longer?

That's a sweet idea! I'm with you in terms of skipping the problems/routes with missing tape and other obvious signs of over-use/staleness. Give me a deadline and perhaps I'll perform ... just like the fleeting hours on the last day of the trip, with daylight slipping away...... well, not that epic, but it would be an easy and useful way to manage turnover. However, don’t try that jibba-jabba with a date six months out. Keep em fresh, folks.
