Relax It’s Labor Day – Video’s
August 30th, 2007Filed in International
Here in America the Labor Day weekend is upon us, which means that most climbers and setters are out enjoying the last rays of sun and rock. So to honor and celebrate the working men and women, Routesetter.com offers up two plastic videos and one rock trip from France & Spain.
Dinámico!
Get psyched on some Spanish comp footage featuring Chris Sharma at the 2007 Campeonato de Espana de Bloque in Barcelona. The Spanish bring it to the competitors with some furiously dynamic problems. You can find the video at Desnivel.com.
Breakin’ Free
The 8th edition of the Freestone Contest took place this summer in Argonay, France. The Freestone is a French homespun comp featuring many of the World Cup’s strongest, including Jerome Meyer, Tonio (Tony) Lamiche and Chloe Graftlaux.

The comp was started in 1999 as a way to have fun and compete but as the organizers say in their blog, “well away from the little morose environment of the official competitions” and all the official rules.
The crew at Pofroad.com made this video of the finals. Or watch this more homemade movie of the entire Freestone event. Make sure to watch out for the punted chalk
buckets!
It’s interesting to compare the two setting styles of the French and the Spanish. Which do you think is better?
It’s Good
Here’s a video just to make you feel good and a reminder of why we climb in the first place.
This Petzl Roc Trip took place in a freshly minted area of southern France, called Scalatabel. The crag was bolted exclusively for the Roc Trip and Petzl brings in their big guns for the show.
