Spring Training – CWA Summit

This coming spring will mark the second annual Climbing Wall Association Summit. The Summit will take place in Boulder, Colorado, May 1-4, 2008.

This year’s edition is shaping up to be even bigger than last years, with a possible 400 gym owners, managers, routesetters and wall and hold manufactures attending.

The summit is the only place for the indoor climbing industry to meet under one roof and gather with colleagues. It’s a great place to network with other gym owners and managers and learn some new tricks along the way.

Routesetters will find the summit filled with even more setting specific workshops. So far at least two pre-conference clinics have been open for setters and it’s rumored that there might be a level 1 & 2 USAC setter certification clinics.

Registration for the 2008 Climbing Wall Summit is open to CWA members and the general public. If you register before February 15th you’ll get the “early bird” rate. For members this is only $285 (non-members: $375) for the entire conference. That’s $200 less than the walk-in rate.

Don’t forget about the pre-conference workshops! Come to Boulder a little early and take part in workshops taught by industry experts. To see a list and register for these pre-conference workshops, visit the CWA website.

The CWA conference committee is still accepting workshop proposals for the conference. In the past, workshops have included discussions on business development, risk management, as well as hands-on workshops focusing on route setting, workplace safety, climbing instruction and other topics.

If you are interested in presenting a workshop or leading a compelling roundtable discussion, please get a proposal form the CWA website.

Last years summit was a first for our industry and considered by many of the attendees a wild success. The CWA looks forward to another highly successful conference.
