i think its great. everyone benefits from it, the gym, members, scarpa, etc. It seems a bin unfair though, people who live near the gym have more opportunities.. but thats life I guess. Hopefully things like this continue!

One angle that we were working on when planning a gym, that sadly never eventuated, was to approach the local music store and sponsor us with an album of the week. The idea would be that we would play the album in it's entirety at peak time in the evenings for a week and they would have advertising space in the gym with a big board that showed the record companies adbertising poster. This way we would have music that would always be changing and we also wouldn't have to pay for the cost of CD's. The other benefit was that gym members who produced their card would get 10% any purchase in the record shop.

I think sponsorship is a good thing as it can help cover costs and maybe allow cheaper entry to entice the customer to return. Turnover from new clients is always hard but having repeat customers helps build loyalty and some what predictable cash flow.

So it seems to me... although the word competition wasn't mentioned anywhere in this article ... that's exactly what this is.
it is mentioned in the video though.

Interesting .... another comp format. Onsight, Flash, Redpoint, and now Project format.

Any form of sponsorship is great as far as I'm concerned. I'm all for it!
