USAC Regional Level Clinic Scheduled
April 3rd, 2008Filed in Training
If you’re interested in becoming a National setter and expanding your setting skills beyond the yokel-local level than don’t miss out on the first USA Climbing Level 2 Regional routesetting clinic in years.
On April 29th – 30th 2008 at the Boulder Rock Club in Boulder, Colorado pro-setters, Chris Danielson and Mike Helt, both USAC National setters, will be teaching this advanced level setting clinic.
The clinic will give setters the skills necessary to set at at SCS and ABS sanctioned regional competition level.
The clinic will run two days and cost $300. But you better hurry and sign up because they are only taking up to 10 setters. The clinic is expected to fill up fast as this is the only Regional Level clinic so far scheduled in 2008.
There are a couple of pre-requisites before one can apply for a Regional level clinic. According to the new USAC Setting website a setter must:
- Have a Level 1 Local Certification; OR experience setting at 2 or more ABS Regional or SCS Divisional level competitions.
- Have the ability to work a minimum of 5.11 & V5.
But Mr. Routesetter, you mentioned becoming a National setter? Indeed I did. Once a setter has a Regional Level cert in their hands they will be able to apply for National internship positions.
And to a motivated setter a Regional cert can also mean a lot more jobs in their local region. Regional setters tend to get the first call when it comes time for gyms to find qualified setters for their comps.
If you need another reason to attend the clinic than look no further than the CWA Climbing Wall Summit. The clinic will run two days prior to the pre-conference workshops and three days prior to the main conference.
The conference is a must for any gym manager, head setter or owner who gives two-hoots about their gym or the industry in general. To find out more about the conference check out the CWA website.
Go to the USAC Setting site to register and to find more information about the clinic.
USAC Setting is psyched to have the following hold sponsors for the event: e-Grips, So iLL, Climb It, Contact, Franklin, Etch and Teknik.
