USA Climbing Selects New Executive Director

Press Release: (BOULDER, Colo. — August 20, 2008) USA Climbing announced the appointment of Keith Ferguson to the position of Executive Director effective September 2nd.
Ferguson joins USA Climbing from the Professional Bull Riders, Inc. in Pueblo, Colo., where he was responsible for sponsor fulfillment. Prior to his involvement with PBR, Ferguson spent more than 15 years with the United States Olympic Committee in various capacities, including the Director of Bid Administration and International Events and the Associate Director of Sport Development where he was instrumental in the planning, marketing and development of U.S. Olympic Festivals.
At USA Climbing Ferguson follows the tenure of Anne-Worley Moelter, who has held the Executive Director position for the past four years. Moelter remains an active part of USA Climbing, serving on both the organization’s Board of Directors and its Executive Committee. “USA Climbing looks forward to working with Keith and capitalizing on his experience and insight, particularly in the area of sponsor development and international participation,” said Moelter.
Ferguson will work closely with USA Climbing Director of Operations Kynan Waggoner, and will be actively involved in the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic goals, including developing corporate partners and playing an active role in USA Climbing’s international presence, working with the International Federation of Sport Climbing, the United States Olympic Committee and other international sport organizations. USA Climbing President Peter Torcicollo said “USA Climbing is eager to move forward with its strategic plans, which include not only increased membership and enhancing the profile of climbing, but also greater involvement on the international stage. Keith brings an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge to our organization, and we are confident that he will be instrumental in taking our sport to the highest level.”

Ferguson brings nearly 20 years of experience in the Olympic Movement to USA Climbing including roles in international events, sport development and developing revenue sources for sport organizations.
