Global Advice Panel – 1st Response
Monday, July 2nd, 2007
Our first question to our new Global Advice Panel gets to the very essence of what we all do. There is a term floating around that is meant to label a group of creatives that include: route setters, hold shapers and wall designers.
No other segment of the industry actually creates climbing. There are indeed shoe designers, gear designers, crashpad designers, and a whole slew of other designers. None of these groups actually creates climbs.
The term is “Climbing Design†and is meant to describe the process of creating so called “artificial†climbing. Hence “Climbing Designers†are the people responsible for creating this “fake†paradise.
The Question
What does the term “climbing design/designers†mean to you? And is this an appropriate label for the group mentioned above?
Here’s are the diverse responses from our Global Advice Panel. Don’t forget to add your two cents too.
