A pretty impressive hold break

I had the same thing happen to this hold in the same way. It was on a slab with bigger nob pointing up and it was a mantel move. The hold had been over tightened and with the pressure of someone standing on it, it flexed the hold and it snapped right off. We have also had it for about 9 months. We have also had 2 of these http://www.projectholds.com/shellshocked-7xl-01-maximus-p-265.html break on us due to a bad/shallow pore. You could see light through the urethane and see how thin some of the spots were when you held it up. They both cracked in the same spot within a month. Project replaced them with out a problem. Other than those....have never had a major problem with either company.

yeah ive had the same problem with bigger climb it holds though not this one in particular. just have to be easy with tightening them and make up for it with set screws.

Ya that's a new one for me as well, pretty impressive grenade, no where near the bolt/washer...

We have had some problems with Climb It holds also. Out of our initial gym order two and a half years ago we only have about 15% that are still usable. This made us leary when we placed an order with them about 10 months ago. We ordered mostly xl and larger sizes and as of now most are either developing cracks out of the bolt hole on the bottom or are sinking in where the washer is at. They have some really nice holds I'd love to have but until they develop a much better mix I have to pass on them every time we order holds. They have been good at replacing holds but those eventually developed the same problems as the others. Having said that, if they developed a better urathane I'd buy most of their entire line two times over.

We've been having the bolt hole problems as well, and often the bolt sleeves will just break out entirely. We also get edge cracks and entire hold splits. Even with pre-drilled set screws we've cracked some of the holds. Like Chris, I'd say we are at around 15% of the original order at this point. We love the shapes, especially the huge features, but it seems like we break a few every time we set. It's a shame, as they have a huge and varied line with some of the best shapes in the business. Their return policy is good, but it's a pain to constantly have to set them aside to box up, then drive 'em to ups, then wait for the new ones, etc...

Wow Ive never seen that before. Climb-It shapes are amazing! That is unfortunate to see.

yeah they have some of the best holds out there i just wish they were more durable. in the meantime i will be ordering from rock candy, teknik, atomik, and others that have a great record for durability and great shapes

Don't forget DRCC, I have fallen in LOVE with their shapes, and if your wall requires it (excessive stupid molding of features) you can get a softback put on every hold, IIRC.
I've drooled over the Climb-It holds, especially the larger features, and all of their sets seem amazing, but their durability seems questionable based on peoples posts.

Another interesting break. This one is Contact. We've had the hold for a while, maybe 4-5 years? But this is still a strange and unsettling way for a hold to break imo:
