I've been pondering that as well quite a bit lately.
I'm preferring features with the most versatility and usability. If I'm going to be spending a lot of dough for one thing, I want to be able to get a lot out of it!... on a different note... I've yet to see a really good hand jam crack!

There is a reason why you don't see a hand jam crack feature, They tend to be painful and not too fun. I have a couple of ideas for wooden volumes (I don't have access or no how in plastic) I hope to built once we get done with an upcoming comp. On idea is a lightning bolt feature made of three links and some cool angles. I also have not tried a stalactite or seen a good bolt on plastic one. IF someone builds one let me know.

The most important aspect of a large volume is it's ability to change the angles of a featureless wall. The advent of these features comes from the need of old-school gyms to keep up with newer wall technologies.
Size and weight come to mind as a couple of the most important aspects needed. Back in the day "pop rocks" provided some of that idea, but these days we need larger, lighter, and higher profile tools to make a 35ft. 10 degree wall an interesting terrain that invites boulderers that enjoy terrain of 50 degrees or steeper.
I'm looking for volumes that provide "some" roof movement (2.5 - 4 ft. of profile), increased angle (an additional 10-15 degrees over 5-7 feet), and the ability for 1 setter to put it up with minimal rigging.
I know that it's a tall order, but I think that there is a huge market for BIG volumes for U.S. gyms built before 2002-2003.

interesting angle changes. low relief horizontal relief. manageable weight. stackability. motavation is on the right path in these respects though i would like to see more interesting urethane type volumes like they are making in europe. i would order from european companies but the shipping is more expensive than the actual product.
