the top rung on our iron palm broke tonight. i didn't see what the climber was doing, but i'm pretty sure it was just normal load. has anyone had this problem?

Interesting. It'll be difficult to say whether it was production error or climber abuse. The only design oversight that I could see (but I dont think its necessary) is a screw point in the middle of the top rung.
How heavy was your climber? I think that under 'normal' load (normal being average weight and consistent use) the deflection of that rung would have a reasonable tolerance.
Where exactly did the rung break? That might also tell you something, that and how it is fractured.
Sorry I dont have anything to add to this thread other than questions...

I would say it is a design flaw, mine has not broken but does flex a lot. A simple screw will help. I love the board other wise.

same here, I added a screw to the top rung because of the flex

We have shipped well over 1000 Iron Palm boards all over the world over the past year and a half. This is the 2nd one we have heard of with a problem. A few boards were poured with our older urethane that we previously poured all of our holds with. Now all the boards are poured with our same exact material we use for our holds. It is crazy strong. Jbrunson, shoot me your address to daniel@soillholds.com and I'll ship a replacement today. No problemo. Take it easy.
