I hope it's ok if i go a little off topic here. There's a lot of experience here that i'd like to take advantage of.
A friend and i have found an area here in Idaho that desperately needs to be developed. We've never put up anything other than boulder problems outside, so we really don't know how to go about bolting.
First thing's first though.. we gotta buy a rock drill.
Advice? Brands to look for or watch out for? Any info is greatly appreciated
Bosch and Hiliti don't skimp
Bosch 36v cordless impact, they're expensive thou
Mine was $1k, works like a dream
I've also used a corded Bosch Bulldog, but moving the generator was a pain and it's only any good if you have (in my case) 200ft of extension cable :)
i know A lot of people around here like the HILTI TA-E2 (that is probably the wrong order of letters maybe its TE-2A whatever...)
its super light has two batteries and works like a charm.
@rob... that is bang on! hilti or bosch dont skimp, if you buy a cheap drill today you end up buying an expensive one tommorow and you waist a few hundred bucks
Either the Hilti or the Bosch are the way to go. The extra $ for the 36-volt models is money well-spent.
