I just stumbled upon (literally) the website for Element Climbing. They are offering free samples for climbing gyms. Not sure if that means only a couple of shapes or several shapes from different sizes/product lines. I have only seen their shapes a handfull of times...never impressed but never disappointed either... quality products.
Just wanted to spread the word if it hasn't been spread yet.
we just ordered basically there entire hold line. i gotta say, while there are a few shapes that are kinda jingus, for the most part their holds are freaking rad. great shapes, great texture, good quality and durability. they just made the top three list in my book along with egrips and rock candy..... oh and teknik, definitely teknik
I will definitely give these guys a shot. I am really into trying out smaller companies, if their stuff is good. I am really excited about a couple of prospects, which should give our gym an edge on the "new hold" factor. People won't be pulling on the same egrips jug they've used before!
Not that a like to be too trixy, but a litle hold confusion can add spice to a problem.
We got a box of holds from them for a comp, probably 30 holds. They are all awesome. Wicked texture, simple clean shapes, super comfy. Love them all.
My gym got a box of thier sample holds and they are really nice. There were about 6 holds of to give you an idea of texture and feel. We received one of their slopers, the "ladybug" hold, a few crimps of various colors/shapes and a smaller incut/small jug. I spoke with owner David Filkins before he sent the holds so he could get a sense of what my gym was looking for and the demographics of our customer base. He comes off as good people. Not your typical sales guy. He just seems to want to make good holds. I would say definitely worth a look.
I've got to second all of the good. I contacted a bunch of hold companies regarding our last comp (recall that we are a free gym and so do not have accounts with these companies). David got back to me and actually called me during a layover in some airport to figure out how he could best support us. He sent out a nice sized box. We loved the shapes and textures. What he sent our way was pretty simple, but each shape was right (= nothing painful or sharp).
We have only had the holds a couple months, so I can't say anything about how the texture holds up, but it seems great so far.
I have the Ions, Methods, and Tremors. The Ions are my favorite as they are really sweet pinches that can be used a number of ways and even the smallest one is large enough to get a full hand on it.
The Methods are my least favorite mainly because 5 of the 10 holds are not much more then foot-chips which is not the best bang for your buck IMO. Otherwise the other crimps in the set are really nice.
Tremors are cool as the holds appear to be mini-jugs but due to the shapes tend to be harder to grab then expected.
