So we've done the whole "what is your favorite" topic a few times now. How about what is your least favorite hold company/ies and why? Maybe this will help some of the companies out there step it up and give us setters what we want to see...

A couple of my least favorites are SoIll and Metolius. SoIll seems to shape almost all of their holds for the right hand. Most of their shapes don't work or feel really awkward for the left hand. I find Metolius shapes to be very unappealing to look at - they don't look friendly to hold onto, nor do they look nice on the wall.

I'm not saying these companies don't have some nice holds, just that they are my least favorite.

Atomik has a lot of holds that i like, but these are just uncomfortable. not a fan.

Actually I'm a fan of the slightly-weird holds like the older Metolius stone holds. Oh well, to each their own.

Can't say I have a least favorite hold except any that crack or break with minimal force.

Though I Refuse to throw any company under the bus, I don't have to... None of the holds at my gym are at the bottom of the bucket except the really old ones.

There is one homemade hold I don't like, but it is a bomber jug and it is use-full.

Sure i have sets i always grab for and some Im less likely too, but none o.f them are bad...

Oh, this is easy - Entreprise. We have several bins of big resin holds that they gave us when they installed our wall (maybe 10 years ago?). Most of them don't fit anywhere on the panel or freeform walls, making them useless. Sometimes I throw one on as a starting foot on an easy route just 'cause I feel sorry for them.

Franklins. Colored franklins. We use them on a color-restricted wall, and it's so boring to set with them. The texture isn't awful, but the shapes are just unimaginative. The benefit is they're practically indestructible.

Any hold that is so dense it feels like I am hauling an engine block up the wall. That said, they can provide a good feel when you weight them.

my least favorite types of holds are the oversized ones that only have about one inch of usable surface. if you are going to give me a one inch crimp, dont pour 4 pounds of shit into the mold and have it take up a shit ton of space in my bucket and most importantly, cost $50.
that being said, i do think the look of a route is super important for me esthetically. so the big ass holds obviously are crucial for the over all appeal of a route. but really.......

Pusher makes some of the best holds, thier new holds are great and sturdy except for one...The Big Stone...I put one on a route and put a screw in the set screw hold and it split up the hold. I left it to see what else was wrong with it and it flexes like no other. It is a very unstable hold I guess you could say. It flexes when you pull on it when you're climbing and flexes a scary amount when you step on it for a foot. Just saying...stay clear of that holds. The others are great though.
