   Hi my name is henry im new to this forum and thought it would be a nice idea to have a random(as in random setting advice not completely random which would be to broad) advice thread. Here we can promote setting advice, tools, methods and other stuff we might think be helpfull to other setters.

   here goes:

   1. Dont use regular philip head screws when setting, use torx or robertson (square head)
   They dont cam out (the bit sliding of the head of the screw).
   They are easier to use with one hand, you dont need to hold the screw in place when drilling becasue it sitts mutch snugger in the bit.

   It would be interesting to now which screw head most setter use and why i would guess its torx mabey square head in canada.

   I'll second not using philip head. it's a pain in the ass. Use Torx.

   Even better:
   use Assy Red by wurth. It's even better then torx. But also more expensive.

   If you have a polyester resin hold get a ugly chip on the edge (and the chip is big enough) directly find the chip and use a bit of tape and stick it to the hold and place the hold in "fixbin" Its important that u directly tape the chip to the hold so you dont just place it on a shelf and think you will get around to fixing it. Because you wont and the chip will get lost. Edge chips can usually be fixed very easily with epoxy and it will look good as new.

   learn to throw a wrench to a fellow setter on a fixed line. There is nothing worse then dropping a wrench...we have all done it. It is only worse when, after 10 attempts to get it thrown to you, you end up going down and jugging back up.

   Aim for the head!!! From the ground, lob that sucker at the setter's head. The wrench with reach it's apex right at the setters lap and her/she will be able to snatch it from the air.

   This is a skill that has served me well in many fields.
