routesetting community,
i was hoping to get some pictures of different ways you all label your routes.
our new gym is opening soon and i want to have a very clean, cost effective, enviro friendly way to label routes.
we have had many forms over the years. ie one big piece of thick white with sharpie (ugly and jankey). paper labels printed out with tape color of route surrounding said label (sloppy and needs to be replaced often, and jankey). and currently we have incorporated a set of laminated labels that we sharpie on the grade and date and we can reuse while washing the sharpie off with alchohol (looks fantastic at first, then looks jankey).
my #1 problem is that all the labels i described above become very sloppy looking over time and need to be replaced every few weeks. #2 using that much unrecycleable tape to produce a label eats at my soul.
what are you all doing that is different than that? my goals are CLEAN, PRESENTABLE, ECO FRIENDLY, COST EFFECTIVE.
thanks in advance.

We set by hold color (10 colors) but that should not be a big difference.
10 years ago i've laminated 1000 creditcard size labels.
In all our hold colors (tape colors in your case) and indicated the level of the climb in a big font. (anging from french 3 up to 8b+)
After i've set a new route i just remove the old label and put the new label under the route. We put the label under a very positive foothold on the very bottom of the wall. That way it will never get damaged.
damaged labels are made presentable again by putting it through the laminating machine again. or, thrown away.
Build dates are kept in a log book, listed on rope number. the hard cover book is not even filled 25% after 15 years.
Total cost:
10*5 sheets of colored paper = 50*€0.20=10€
10*100 laminating sheets (creditcard size) = 10*1.99€=20€
1 log book: 3.99€
Total costs: 34€
Time lasted: 10+ yearsCost / year 3.40€
i don't know about ECO friendly but that ticks all the other boxes.
