I have not used Sodium Phosphate before but I have used citric acid mixed with water and it works very well. We use it in the dishwasher and also have some in a spray bottle for cleaning the large holds that don't fit in the dishwasher. You can make the concentration as powerful as you would like but I find it doesn't take much to clean the holds very well. Hope this helps.
I used some Sodium Phosphate and it did a decent job cleaning the holds. I got no vapor or other dangers associated with Muriatic Acid. Next I have to compare the price based on what is available and how much sodium phosphate it takes for a sink full of holds. Will post once I know more.

I prefer the power washer... and if you don't have one you can just take it to the DIY car wash ..
But if your washing less than hundreds of holds, soap, warm water and just a little bit of love with a brush is best imho. Hell you're going to be handling them anyway. Might as well clean 'em the first time.
I'm not a fan of "put 'em here", wait, "put 'em there", wait, "put 'em over there then", wait, etc.... multiple buckets, gloves, glasses, mask & ventilation, etc.
I am a fan of Occam's razor.

no need to wiki Occam's Razor, TY. We have no power washer and it seems a inefficient use of time to truck holds to a wash. We soak 10 min, scrub, rinse and let air dry. Pretty simple, but the HCl is corrosive, and no fun.

Grip-Wash is the real stuff you need to clean your holds.
It´s eco friendly and cleans up to 1500 holds per hour.
Nobody and nothing is faster and more friendly to the holds, people and nature.
1500 holds per hour!... impressive... that I'd like to see.
That's 2.4 seconds total time per hold!
It'd take more than a few buckets and a few gallons of the stuff I'd expect.
I am confused by the 1500 holds per hour. How many holds does say a 1 gallon bottle clean and what does it cost compared to the price of acid. If you have a bottle that speeds employees up to 1500 holds per hour it may be illegal...
Ok Benky... I see that might work...
Would you need other buckets set up to be transferring more holds while a batch soaks?
Benky's Grip Wash Video..

Has anybody else here (...unbiased) used it in a gym setting..
Yeah I've used it
It's pretty good... dump holds into the mix let them sit, drain and then rinse
Done... if the hold is still dirty you put it in for longer
((this was how I cleaned all of my holds before I moved the current climbingholdreview wall))
I didn't scrub anything I just let the grip wash do the work.
I think this video (So Ill have Benkys in the States)

is pretty good at giving the info you want
This green concoction is the best stuff I have ever used to clean holds. We have used everything, acid, dishwasher, pressure washer, car wash. You name it, we’ve used it. The Grip Wash is by far the easiest and quickest. The bottle says it takes about 10 -15 minutes, but once you drop a hold in you can almost take it right back out and it will be clean. We used the wash for the first time to clean holds for our SCS comp in February. We stripped 48 top rope and 38 lead routes and the wash cleaned all of the holds in less time and better than anything we have ever used in the past. We kept putting holds in the wash and stood there in amazement while it bubbled the grime away, hold after hold. We have holds that have been around this gym for 15 years, and they almost look brand new now. Chalk and shoe rubber just disappear like magic.
I know that the Climbing Works (from the video) use it a lot and it's been adopted by lots of UK gyms. If one person can wash more holds and place them to dry using Benkys than traditional methods (I use that term lightly as there's nothing traditional about how climbers approach any problem) then amen..
I jet washed my holds and it was a pain in the ass, now I have three buckets and I wash all of my holds. I think it took us a day to do all the holds I have (resin / urethane and the Nicros soy based stuff)... there's been no problems at all.
I'd recommend it, that's for sure
