Hello everyone, first post. I've been playing around with some foam in my free time as I find the art of sculpting holds fascinating. These holds still need to be gone over and smoothed and blended again before they're done and I want to make one more for it but I was just wondering what everyone thought of them. Do you think these could ever make it into production? I'm looking for a little constructive criticism on these just to see how they would be before I go trying to get them produced. They're kind of what I would call mini jugs on some edges (flat or really shallow cupped.) Other uses I can see would be pinches and one of them (the one in the back to the right) has a little outcrop on it that I could see being used as like a two finger crimp type grip. I just thought holds shaped like this would feel cool to grab onto. Thanks for looking and any input. I'll try and put the last hold up when I finish it also.
edit* - also the big one in the front I wanted it to be more of a pinch on the point of the triangle, thats why the rocks are dug out more there.

Some holds I've been carving, what do you think?

I think the shapes look pretty cool. They remind me of marshmallows or clouds.

Thanks, I was going with the idea of coagulated rock or river rocks that have been cemented together in a clump.

cool looking :)
one thing I've always tried to do with my holds is make them only grippable one way when set in a route, unless the goal is a hold that the climber has to pick the best way for himself.
with a few of these it looks like a big palm grip could grab it no matter how they are oriented. Other than that I like em :)

Yeah I kind of did that on purpose on a couple, that and it is my first time using something besides floral foam so I was trying to get a feel for it without wasting too much if I screwed up. Most can be gripped a couple of ways but I try and make sure one way you grab it is always a lot better than the other ways to encourage people to grab it that way. But overall I was going for utility with these so you would have a wider range of options with a smaller set of holds. Thanks for the input though I really appreciate it, I was starting to wonder if they just were too bad for anyone to even comment on them haha.

Here's my 2 cents: I don't like holds that have aproximately the same texture/edge/grip on all sides. In the end it doesn't matter how you turn the hold if they are like that. I love holds that have one good edge (maybe 2), then I can fine tune any climb by messing with the angle.
Cool texture though

Your shapes look pretty cool! I can see your holds being killer pinches on some steep terrain.
