I've been contemplating buying in for a while now, but I'm a little skeptical. Has anybody actually learned anything from this that they could just ask any other setter about? Frankly, is it worth the money?

I love my copy!
Could you find all this information on you own here and around the interwebs? Probably.
But this book is well organized and the information is all in one place. I make it required reading for anyone who wants to set for me. And as a bonus the last section is filled with great interviews which are my favorite part and in my opinion worth the price of the whole book.

I agree with rock 100%. It is very handy to have all of the information in one book.
I think there is information in it that you couldn't find on the internet, and who wants to scavenge through 30+ internet sites on the same topic anyway? The Art of Coursesetting is absolutely worth the money.

Thanks guys, i'll probably get it in the next week or two. If nothing else, it is an easy resource to go to if I have any questions.

Without a doubt a great compilation of setting advice, know-how, and discussion. I completely agree with rock on this one, you can find it other places but well worth it just to have it all in one place and easy to find. Without a doubt the Personal pieces by route setters in the back is the best part.
Louie's book isn't perfect but I'd pay for another copy instantly if I ever lost mine. Word.

Before Louie wrote this there was nothing else available and there hasn't been anything like it since.
