So I have this shape right now, it has been laying in my shop for about a year while I have pondered whether to mold it or not. The problem is that I do not want to put something out there that is going to be viewed as a copy or rip-off of another person's work. Is this too close to other shapes or not??????
Let me know what you guys think. I am new here so please don't slaughter me.
To similar to other shapes?????

I don't see any reason not to mold it.
In essense, a lot of the climbing holds are similair, and a lot of the idea's are borrowed, and re-used.
So as long as you did not "copy" this directly from a different hold but used your own ideas and experiences to come up with ths shape you're fine.

that's a cool one... can I ask where you get your foam? :P

Ummmmm I forget who I bought the foam from (what distributor). It is made by a company called general plastics. They will make you buy a full 4 by 8 foot sheet though, they will cut it in half but you have to buy both halves. I think there was also a minimum purchase of 1500 or 2000 dollars I forget which. Be aware these do come by truck not UPS and they don't like to go to a residence. I started with floral foam though, just couldn't find big enough chunks.

George shapes are shapes, shape it up... although shapes may be similar they'll never be the same. If you were to shape an entire set that was (for lack of a better term) a mirror image then you want to rethink those shapes. But for the most part, I think you're doing well. Good Job, keep posting them up! They look great.

I don't suppose you have one of those big yellow girls poured that I can pick up somewhere eh? It looks like a cozy one to practice dyno's to without destroying my hands..

Lovehandles, are you talking about the one on the right side of the picture? If so send me an email at Figure4climbing@hotmail.com and we can get something set up.

What company are the yellow holds from? I ask because the small yellow hold at the top (the right one) is actually on the UTA climbing wall. I noticed it because they mounted it upside down and we started playing a game of add-on yesterday and that was the second hold.

I dont think that it is the same hold. The hold in the picture is one that I just made, just a small bucket type jug, could be very similar to other stuff that is out there though.
