I'm curious, what inspires you when you're setting? Is it the holds, the wall, movement, nature, rock, art or the other setters?
I believe we as setters don't talk about inspiration that often. And if we do it's usually based on whether a climb is "real rock" or a "gym problem". But I'd like to know what you really think about when you're setting.
For me it starts with trying to create something that has never been seen, yet has a natural (I don't mean real rock) feel to it. Looking at sculptures often gets my mind thinking in a new way about form and function. And then it's the holds and what can I do with them that is unique yet purposeful. I love watching comp videos and seeing what other setters have down with the same holds I use.
