I agree with you Donovan. Let me explain myself more completely.
First off I will have you know that I absolutly love Project shapes. Some of my favorite sets are Project. I have never had a problem with their holds or customer service until recently.
Lately I have found that the quality (being mostly durabitily) of Projects holds have taken a turn for the worst. I have recieved shipments that have had sharp edges on usable surface of the holds, washers that will not allow for me to easily put a bolt in, and most commonly breaking within being put on the wall two or three times. At first I thought that the breaking was due to the harsh nature of the concret walls in our facility but after speaking to one of the owners of project he said that the walls should not be damaging the holds. This leads me to believe that the mixes they sent were bad. In some cases after replacing the broken sets at no cost the new holds would still break. THIS WAS NOT DUE TO OVERTIGHTENING.
As far as customer service goes, I was very pleased by the quick call backs and emails I would recieve from Project regaurding replacements, missing shippments, etc. until recently. The most rescent shippment to the gym did not have all of the holds that were paid for and phone calls and email were not returned promptly in order to sort out the situation. We finally did recieve the missing holds but they were months later than the original order.
And to correct myself; I believe Three Ball is selling Project shapes but they are manufactured by climbing hold manufacture out of Salt Lake. This is what I have heard but I have no source in which I can back this statment up.
Personally I like when I order holds, they all arrive on time and many times I have even recieved the holds with extra holds included at no price, personal letters of appreciation and things like chalk for the first time climbing on them. I just do not feel that Project is delievering this service like they used to.
